1. HKO Founders has grown to be one of the largest guilds of HKO, but how did the guild get started, and how did it grow to its present size?
Kaito: The HKO Founders guild start was anything but impressive. I was originally planning to join Sailoria after the guild system started up, and I made HKO Founders guild to test the guild system and invited a few people who were also planning to join Sailoria, mostly so we could have a temporary place to chat easier while waiting for Sailoria to make the guild. But those few members I invited, invited their friends and then they invited their friends too, and within a few hours of creation we were up to 50 members in size. They urged me to keep the current guild rather than switching over later, and that's about how HKO Founders creation went... Since I'm mentioning this, I'll also give credit to AlmightyTallest, the very first member of HKO Founders and also the one who urged me the most to keep the guild and the reason I did.2. What was the main objective for the creation of your guild?
Kaito: Though the objective changed over time, there was always one main factor to the goal in the guild, that was to be a central place for people to chat, make friends, get help with quests, or trade and sell items. Since the map and trade chats in the game only went to certain areas, and at the start there weren't many people that far into the game, it was really hard to make much of an economy, or any friends, so I wanted the guild to be a place where we could chat easier from anywhere. Though the guild was originally supposed to be a temporary place for that, after more people joined, I decided to just make it into a permanent guild. With that purpose in mind, it quickly reached the guild member limit and became a great place for chat and friends. At any one point in time, regardless of the hours there were at least 20-30 members on, to help, chat, and trade with, so throughout the entire beta we had a nice active community in the guild.3. The guild grew really fast from its inception, what do you think was the main draw for players to join your guild?
Kaito: I think we kind of cheated with this one. Though I didn't confirm it with many guild members, some mentioned it a few times, but the name really made quite an impression on people. HKO Founders: since it was the Founders beta, I'm sure quite a few people thought the guild was something special specifically because of the name. Though beyond that also because of the objective, a lot of the original members invited their friends to join, and then their friends also invited friends, and that's another main reason why it grew so fast. Also, what made that possible is from the very start I had promoted everyone to a rank where they could invite other members, so from the very start every person in our guild could invite anyone. That made the guild completely open to new members.4. Your guild has been really successful in the events, what is your secret?
Kaito: This is probably the easiest question to answer: that would have to be the relationships between the guild members. Since our community has always been pretty good, even being the largest guild in the game for most of the beta, we had very few internal problems or fights. A few arguments came up from time to time but mostly just friendly debates. The members of HKO Founders all worked together extremely well, and when it came to team-work events, it amazed even me how well they listened not only to me and got things done, but other members also showed great leadership and helped organize everyone to get things done quickly and perfectly. Those most noteworthy members I feel I should name here, though just because I don't name them doesn't mean many others didn't help out a lot, these were just the ones who were showing more leadership on top of being extremely helpful in the events. Kenman and JamJam were some of the top members. They were not only my representatives but they ended up making more representatives to hold food for themselves during the event which helped us build a bigger stock pile to turn in The friends they made that made that possible some of them were Vampzzz, Serenity, and Bellkana...5. Of the many guild events held in Founders' Beta, what would be your guild's favorite?
Kaito: Hmm, after all that would have to be... the mini guild-event where we had to make the longest straightest line! Though, not really. :P I honestly can't answer that. All the guild events were equally fun in very different ways. The lining up event was spontaneous and a very interesting event. Calling as many guild members who were on at those off hour times and getting them into a perfect line took a lot of teamwork. We managed to pull it off nicely with how many people were on at the time. I just wish we could have seen it happen at a more active time, with many more members, and having it planned out better. I can just imagine a line of people all around London. The shape event was probably my least favorite but it required the most organization and teamwork. It was tough getting everyone into the right order to make that shape. For the first 4 minutes or so of the event I wasn't sure we were going to make it but we somehow managed to completely re-make a satisfactory star in the last minute. XD The Build New York event was extremely interesting, first collecting all those strange materials, being the first to trade them in for the permits, and then having the reps and the other members ready to build constantly for the next 3-4 hours, along with enough food to cover them, was a very exciting 4 hours racing to be the first one to win. Not to mention we had a slip up on the empire state building: the representative who was making it on their farm JamJam got disconnected for about 30 minutes, so we had a slight delay on that one but we managed to get her back on quickly and complete it within the top 2. The charity event was another interesting one, there were just so many emotions and goals created throughout this event that it's hard to explain it with any single word. It created a lot of teamwork, leadership, organization, friends, enemies, and rivals, and it lead to fun for some and anger for others. All in all this one is probably my guild favorite. By the end of the charity food event, I'm sure all of us were pretty worn down mentally. I'm glad it didn't go on any longer than the 6 days or so it did, or quite a few of us may have collapsed. However, the satisfaction from not only knowing we were keeping the tops but that we were helping those less fortunate kept us going until the end.6. In the Food For Friends event, your guild amassed the largest amount of food in both gross numbers and the net point total, how were you able to do it?
Kaito: First off we were very well organized, and also we had a lot of members helping us with it. As I've said in the previous questions, my representatives had their friends become sub-representatives and hold food for them, and all the members donated their food to one of the 5-6 members who were stocking it. We turned it in all at once. If you're asking how we were motivating ourselves to earn the food to turn in, then I'm sure it depends on each individual member. This is one of the most amazing points in that my guild won. Some guilds out there had a few main people making all their food, and others had mandatory rules saying all their members had to help make food and donate, but to be perfectly honest I NEVER ONCE said anyone had to make food and donate it. I constantly gave reminders about the event and said to make food at your own convenience, but all the food that was turned in was made and given completely at the members of HKO Founders own will. They wanted to either help donate money to charity, or they really got into the competition of the events. Either way, the members of HKO Founders were really into the event for whatever reasons they had.7. What insights have the guild gained from gathering all that food for charity?
Another thing to note, while many people probably think a few of our top members made most of our food, between me and Kenman and 2-3 others who were the top donators for the guild we only probably did 10-25% of the guild total. The food donated was donated by just about every active guild member we had, all 100-140 of them.
Kaito: I'm sure everyone in the HKO Founders guild feels very proud that they helped get several thousand real dollars donated to charity. The fact that we were the tops to do it also gave them a lot of confidence at having won the competition, and feelings of satisfaction of having done a great thing to help those less unfortunate. Though a lot of people from the start tried saying they were doing this event for charity and denied the competition part completely, from the very start I didn't really like it when people said that. Sure charity is the most important part of the event, the main focus, but charity alone can't motivate many people to use their time. I'm sure some very generous people from my guild and that of other guilds(especially those of the guild Tokidoki) did it specifically for the charity. But the competition part of it was also a very big motivation not only for me but for many other people participating in this event whether they deny it or not. Maybe I can only say this because HKO Founders won the event, but all in all, whether we had won the competition or not, more importantly we managed to get lots of money donated to charity and helped get real food to those who really needed it..8. In the Build New York guild races, your guild finished in the top 2 on all three structures, how were you able to gather all the necessary materials and build all three buildings so quickly?
Also, just a personal insight of mine, the villain behind this event should be GM-Abby. She probably set the event up solely so she could eat all the cakes herself rather than giving them to those starving to rot their teeth out with. Now she's probably rolling around somewhere, with no teeth left, laughing to herself at the rest of us for having given her all our cake.
Kaito: The Build New York guild event, was probably one of the most unexpected, exciting, and interesting of the events. We nearly got completely obliterated in it all thanks to one man: *glares at Neverender* Thanks to the stockpiles me, Kenman and various other members had, we just about had every item in the game, and lots of random building materials we had collected for when buildings came out. We had pretty much every item we needed for the buildings beforehand. We even had pretty much all of the mystery items that came out an hour before the event on-hand the moment the list was released. The one thing that took us 98% of the time before permits started getting handed out, and the thing that almost made us get disqualified from the event completely was that poem! It also created a lot of arguments and strife within the guild chat! I'm really glad it ended up peacefully and we have a lot of great poets. I have to give credit to Sydnty for the poem that we turned in to pass. Any strife we experienced in this event was caused by my ignorance. I'm hopeless at poetry because I simply don't know much about poems. I had the members write poems and send them to me, then I chose one that I liked the most and posted it up. Unfortunately, it wasn't accepted because it wasn't done correctly. However, we were allowed to re-submit it as long as it was the same poem, just fixed. This caused a lot of personal attacks on Sydnty and me. But all in all, thanks to the efforts of many members over the next hour, we somehow managed to revive that poem into one that fit the qualifications. After that the actual building was fairly easy, Getting the materials together wasn't hard since we had stockpiles of every item in the game before-hand. The poem was trouble but we managed it in time, then I managed to load up GM-Neverender's farm just in time for the event and was the 2nd guild to grab the permits. I immediately gave the permits to Kenman and JamJam the guild representatives, and we started building right away. For the next 3.5 hours we had 5 members at all 3 of our farms working. We had leftover food items from the charity food event for energy. We had plenty enough to give out to the people building so we could keep everyone in top shape to keep going. Near the end, I had someone else take my place building and started farming oats to help make more energy food just in case. So rather than getting them done quickly, we just managed to get them done in the quickest possible time given how long they take to build all thanks to team work of the reps, the donations from the food event, and the overall organization of the guild.9. What will the future hold for HKO Founders?
Kaito: Honestly, I can't say. Mostly since I don't know anything about the open beta: will we still have our characters and even more so our guilds in the open beta? If so, then I'm sure the guild will resurrect and we'll continue on as a great community of friends, a place to talk, trade, do quests, and all around have fun. Otherwise if there is a wipe in the open beta, I might be able to remake the guild, though someone else could reach the required levels and cash required to make one before me and take the original guild name HKO Founders. You never know who could become the new guild leader of HKO Founders. However cheesy as it may be, for all of us HKO Founders, and Founders alike, the experience of the Founders beta will live on in our hearts forever... XD10. Any closing remarks?
Kaito: Yes, actually... I was just wondering if I'll be getting that Statue of Liberty built in New York in my image in the actual game, in bronze or gold? Also, we can't forget about the billboard signs with me modeling the awesome Dream Clothes line.. XD Not really... I really just want to thank all of the GMs in the game for giving me and all the players of HKO a great gaming experience! I've played many great and popular MMOs, free and P2P, I've seen and experienced admins, moderators, and GMs in so many games and the GM experience I had in this game was nothing like any other I've had. I just hope you guys can keep up this type of GMing when the actual game comes out. I'm sure it’ll be harder with more players, and a live game that goes on a more permanent basis...but just keep it up, and I'm sure this game will outlast any other. Also, I'd like to thank all of the members of my guild for all the great friendship, times in the guild chat, and help with not only the events but also quests. I hope you guys all re-join in the open beta and we play again together. I'd also like to give some more credit to Kenman. While many people think of him as more of just a #2 in my guild, I actually consider him to be more of a co-leader than a sub-leader. From the very start of the Founders' Beta he was my greatest rival and one of the few that could compete with me on even terms (and who many times won those competitions.) He was also a great provider of information concerning everything game wise, and probably the one who reported more bugs, glitches, and exploit related information than anyone else in the Founders' Beta. He alone really will help all future players of HKO in more ways than they'll ever know with some of the exploits he found, reported, and which already got fixed in the Founders' Beta. My good "real life" friend Lloyd also deserves some thanks of mine. Without his help, I probably wouldn’t have advanced in the game at the start so quickly. I hadn't played closed beta I was completely new to the system. Thanks to him it was like I had all of the effort of 2 people with all the quest items he gave me and helped me get... Finally, I'd like to thank Magnificent, leader of the guild Is Awesome!!! She and her guild made for a great guild rival, increasing the enjoyment of the competition in ALL of the guild events. Also, though the competition with the other guilds was more relaxed, I'd like to thank Sailoria, Misfits, Tiger Melody, and all the other guilds for being guild friends and rivals as well.
